EP 32 – Sidney Alvares – Your Soul Mate Expried
Something is changing at the GayPHX Podcast.
We’ve been working behind the scenes on what comes next—not just for the podcast, but for the GayPHX livestream and the ways we’re bringing more voices into what we’re building.
And this week, we’re finally ready to talk about some of it.
We’re not spoiling the announcement here. You’ll have to listen for the details. But we’re incredibly excited about what’s ahead, and this episode marks the beginning of a new chapter for GayPHX.
And somehow, we couldn’t have picked a more fitting guest for it.
This week, Bily sits down with multi-Emmy Award-winning journalist Sidney Alvares, a professional storyteller who has spent much of his career telling other people’s stories. With his book, Your Soulmate Expired… And That’s Okay, Sidney turns the lens on himself.
Sidney opens up about the end of a 23-year relationship, growing up gay at a time when positive LGBTQ+ representation was difficult to find, rebuilding self-worth, and learning how to move forward when a huge part of the life you knew suddenly disappears.
It’s a deeply personal conversation about heartbreak, relationships, visibility, healing, learning to love yourself, and eventually finding the courage to love harder.
Sometimes an ending makes room for something new.
That feels particularly appropriate this week.
